JUST LIKE REGULAR CHEWING GUM, BUT PLASTIC-FREE

Most chewing gum contains plastic. In fact, the same plastic materials that go into plastic bottles, glue, and rubber tyres. But True Gum is different because it is a plastic-free and palm oil free alternative. We make it with sap from gum trees, all-natural flavours, and plant-based xylitol sweeteners. True Gum is suitable for vegans because it has no animal-derived ingredients. 

FREE FROM PLASTIC AND SYNTHETICS, FULL OF NATURAL FLAVOUR

Instead of using a traditional plastic-filled gum base, we make True Gum with chicle, a sustainable and natural ingredient coming from the sap of the Sapodilla tree. That makes True Gum a plastic-free, plant-based chewing gum. Our chicle is harvested by local “chicleros” in Central America with a sustainable technique that's been practiced for centuries that does not require cutting down trees. At the same time, using chicle supports the livelihood of the local communities.

Unlike many conventional gums, True Gum is palm oil free. Our plastic-free gum also does not contain any aspartame and BHA - a synthetic antioxidant shown to have a hormone-disturbing effect. For sweetening, we use the low-calorie plant-based sweeteners stevia and xylitol. Stevia is a sugar substitute derived from plant leaves, and xylitol comes from birch trees. Xylitol has been shown to prevent tooth decay and is therefore good for your teeth.

The journey of True Gum started in 2017. After years of experimenting and trying out all sorts of recipes in our home kitchens, we finally nailed the eco-friendly gum formula. What started as a passion project between four friends – Peter, Morten, Jacob, and Zabrina – is now a company on a mission to produce foods that only do good for people and our planet. Nowadays, each piece of plastic-free gum is carefully crafted in our own little eco-friendly chewing gum factory running on green energy right outside of Copenhagen.
